With SMI Eye Tracking Glasses, we can reconstruct shoppers’ routes across the store and assess what they recall later about particular items on display. It is very important to us that for the shoppers its a completely realistic shopping experience, because the SMI glasses are completely unobtrusive and very light weight. We can look at the recordings individually, but we also aggregate the data. So they tell us exactly where shoppers’ behavior overlaps and where there are individual differences.

Combining SMI's technology with our VR development software Vizard allows researchers and professionals to create VR applications with real-time gaze interaction in the HTC Vive. This instant user interaction, naturally triggered by the eye gaze, gives those involved in market research, sports training, behavioral research, neuroscience and many other fields an incredibly powerful and one-of-a-kind solution for studying how people view, navigate and interact with environments.
A critical part of the design process is how humans interact with the car’s ADAS activities. The SMI/DEWESoft automotive measurement platform makes it possible to track, measure and report back on the activity of drivers in a qualitative and quantifiable way. The aggregated results of the “off-road glance duration analysis” directly provide the numbers needed in order to fulfill the required NHTSA Driver Distraction Guidelines for in-Vehicle Electronic Devices.
The 120 Hz system is “in remarkably good agreement with the benchmark data” from 1000 Hz eye trackers. Statistical analyses using surrogate data indicate that saccades of all sizes above the micro-range (i.e. mean amplitude > 1°) can be identified reliably. The SMI-ETG 2W system might represent an alternative technology to desktop systems for high resolution eye-tracking research.
