In order to strengthen its position in the demanding and growing market for retinal care, SMI is developing technology that offers a precise, reliable and secure control of the retinal treatment and enhanced multi-diagnostic functions.
To this end, SMI is working on retinal treatment planning, documentation and control, together with the registered real-time overlay of multimodal images (e.g. angiography, OCT, color image).
SMI's solution allows online image registration and stabilization with up to 50 Hz, plus at least one megapixel resolution to robustly compensate for translation, rotation, general image deformations and changing lighting conditions.
These new, innovative retinal tracking and registration algorithms will mean an easier, safer and more comprehensive retinal care process, benefiting both the physician and patient.
