Study Design/Methodology

31 test persons were alternately watching the same 45min. program on a Panasonic NeoPDP-Plasma and a Samsung-LCD-TV with LED backlight. During the test, pupil variations and blink rates were measured with an SMI iView X HED mobile eyetracking system in order to detect stress factors on the eyes.

Conclusion

Pupils of participants watching the Plasma screen had to work less. The users also moved their eyes less around and showed less blinking. Therefore, researchers of the GRP concluded that Plasma TVs are more gentle to the eyes than LCD screens.
